Rolls-Royce Amethyst Droptail is the second Droptail in a collection of 4 Droptails that Rolls-Royce built for their special customers. If the La Rose Noire is inspired by the red color of the Black Baccara rose, the Amethyst version takes design inspiration from amethyst, the birthstone of the car owner’s child.
In addition, the inspiration for the car’s color scheme also comes from Globe Amaranth, a flower that blooms abundantly in a desert near the wealthy customer’s house. Rolls-Royce Amethyst stands out with a two-tone paint job to simulate the color of flowers while they bloom. Darker purple represents amethyst.
Rolls-Royce has not announced prices for all Droptail versions, but a previous special project, the Boat Tail, cost up to $20 million. According to Rolls-Royce, this unnamed customer used to run a gem store, which later expanded into a multinational corporation.
This person has a whole museum to display their favorite gems, works of art and cars. In terms of overall appearance, this purple version is similar to the previous Droptail, but it is definitely more personalized and customized in some details or equipment on the car.
Rolls-Royce Droptail Amethyst is still a 2-door coupe that looks much sportier than the inherent elegance that Rolls-Royce has built so far with their traditional cars. The compact radiator grille with familiar patterns, the eye-catching front/rear LED lighting system or the angular lines on the car make it look very strong.
The 22-inch wheels also have a different design compared to the previous variant. It is known that many parts on the car are finished and polished manually, taking 50 hours to do. The Spirit of Ecstasy symbol on the front of the car is also special thanks to the amethyst base.
Rolls-Royce Amethyst has a removable roof, while the car’s window system can change color to light or dark with just the press of a button. The car’s interior is a combination of wood and leather, and is purple and brown. Never before has the color combination of brown and purple been so compatible through the craftsmanship of Rolls-Royce employees.

The British luxury car brand said that the wood panels used for the car’s interior have undergone rigorous tests with more than 8,000 hours of heat resistance from -5 – 80ºC, direct exposure to sunlight and wind and rain. . Even the floor carpet is woven in the traditional method of an Arab market, the original residence of the owner.
Like La Rose Noire, in addition to details related to technology, entertainment, etc., an impressive point on the car’s dashboard is the watch from Vacheron Constantin, a Swiss manufacturer. When needed, users can completely remove it to wear it on their hands.
Personalization is what luxury car manufacturers like Rolls-Royce aim for customers. And RR has continuously promoted that approach over the years, and now they have taken it to a new level through Coachbuild – a vehicle production program dedicated to individuals with outstanding achievements, not only to honor that individual but also to help Rolls-Royce prove what they can do.

In fact, coach-build is a term that comes from the profession of making carriages of the ancient aristocracy. In 2017, Sweptail was the first product under this program launched, a 2-door fastback developed based on the Phantom model.
Next is the Boat Tail, a soft-top convertible grand tourer, with a rear trunk designed as long as the stern of a ship, impressive with Caleidolegno wood material and a design that is no different from a work of art. The Droptail is the newest of these special cars, a two-seat coupe.
Compared to previous coach-build projects, Droptail development is said to be more expensive. The vehicle has a frame made from steel, aluminum and carbon fiber. Compared to the RR Ghost, the Droptail is about 25 cm shorter.
Details such as the doors and front fenders are made of steel, while the trunk lid and rear side panels are made of carbon fiber. The 6.7L V12 engine has a maximum capacity of 593 horsepower, 30 horsepower more powerful than a standard Phantom, while maximum torque reaches 841 Nm.
