There has been no shortage of cool cars debuting at this year’s Shanghai Auto Show.
However, the Cannon CyberP!ckup 6×6 has to be the craziest.
Ok, it’s not a car per se, but a three-axle monster developed by Great Wall Motors (GWM).
Judging by the pictures, it looks like one crazy truck that could tackle any terrain.
You’ll most likely note that it rides on a Sєxtuplet of 18-inch wheels wrapped in 33-inch Cooper Discovery AT3 off-road tires.
That’s not to mention its massive ground clearance, too.
Getting to the nitty-gritty, it’s actually based on the Shanhai Cannon, but comes equipped with a third axle and heavy-duty suspension with nitrogen dampers.
The Cannon CyberP!ckup 6×6 also comes with no fewer than five electronically controlled diff-locks.
Not only that, but this beast of a truck has been developed to accommodate not only gasoline and plug-in hybrid engines, but also a hydrogen-fueled setup.
It also serves as a battery powered electric vehicle.
Nor is it far behind.
Under the hood is a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 in combination with an electric motor, delivering a total of 510bhp and 552lb-ft of torque.
Since the Cannon CyberP!ckup 6×6 is a PHEV, its battery is expected to provide 31 miles (50 kilometers) of electric range.
As for the design, it looks like a mixed bag.
There are definitely signs that the Toyota Tundra and Ram 1500 combine to create one tough-looking truck.
The third axle definitely gives off Mercedes-AMG G63 6×6 vibes, albeit in PHEV form.
The crew cab pickup is practical, though, and comes equipped with an aluminum winch, a pair of recovery hooks, and a 60:40 split tailgate.
There is a strong possibility that the GWM Cannon CyberP!ckup 6×6 will come to fruition, as there have been camouflaged prototype spies.
Some Chinese media outlets have even reported that the 6×6 beast is in production.
