As a long-standing brand, Delage seems to be unknown on the world automobile map.
Founded in 1905, Delage also comes from France and specializes in luxury cars and racing cars similar to Bugatti. Not long after being acquired by Delahaye, Delage stopped production in 1953. At the end of last year, this brand suddenly reappeared after nearly 70 years of falling into oblivion.
Having just returned, Delage immediately attracted attention with a new product called D12. This is an ambitious project as Delage wants to turn the D12 into the fastest hybrid street supercar in the world. So what does D12 have to match that title?
Based on the published images, it can be seen that the D12 is inspired by its design from Formula 1 racing cars. This can be recognized through the front diffuser, the front wheels are separate from the The body or cabin gradually tapers towards the nose of the car. With a cabin like that, it’s not surprising that Delage chose a fighter jet-style glass dome design for this special supercar.
In addition to the above highlights, the D12 also attracts attention with its bold cut lines, giant air intakes as well as a large tail wing at the back. Thanks to that, the D12 shows off an extremely aggressive appearance that no other super sports car can match.
As a performance-focused car, the D12 of course also makes maximum use of ultra-light materials, typically carbon fiber. According to the announcement, Delage D12 includes two versions. In particular, the Club version weighs 1310kg, about 90kg lighter than the GT version.
Basically, the two D12 variants are equipped with a 7.6-liter V12 engine block producing 990 horsepower, combined with an electric motor. On the D12 GT, the electric motor has a capacity of 110 horsepower. Meanwhile, the D12 Club’s motor is lighter in weight and has significantly lower power, only 20 horsepower.
Delage says the GT version will accelerate better, but the Club version is the fastest car on the track. At the same time, the company also aims to set a new record at the Nurburgring racetrack with the D12.
It is expected that Delage D12 will go into production from next year with a limited quantity of 30 units. As a matter of course, the selling price of this hypercar model is not cheap, up to 2.3 million USD (more than 53 billion VND).
