Snowy owls (also known as white owls), often live in high mountains on the north coast of Canada. Photographer Rick Dobson captured beautiful moments of a snowy owl hunting its prey.
“It discovers its prey and then silently flies in to kill it. This owl hunts both day and night. They often park quietly in a snowy field, almost motionless, making it very difficult for others to detect,” said photographer Rick.
The owl’s “weapon” – sharp claws. After catching its prey, the snowy owl will steal the prey and fly into the air and fly to a certain area to eat.
Snowy owls are also among the top skilled “hunters”. They will fly at low altitude so that their prey cannot detect them.
Photographer Rick describes snowy owls as “one of the most amazing creatures on earth.” “They are large birds, fly very gently, and can withstand the harshness of their environment. They are so powerful, to me, they are symbols of the Arctic.”
