As he returns to fight in his homeland of Mexico for the first time in 12 years, Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez decided to make the visit a record-breaking family affair.
The boxer was joined on stage by his siblings Víctor “El Matador” Álvarez, Daniel “El Conde” Álvarez, Gonzalo “El León” Álvarez, Ricardo “Dinamita” Álvarez, Ramón “El Inocente” Álvarez and Rigoberto “El Español” Álvarez for a special certificate presentation for the Guinness World Records title they share.
The seven brothers have held the title for most siblings to fight in the same professional boxing event since 2008 when they pulled on their gloves at an event in Zapopan, Mexico on 28 June.

This week, the siblings were presented with a certificate for their achievement by Guinness World Records Adjudicator Alfredo Arista.
Canelo, who is in town to defend his title as undisputed 168 lb champion against John Ryder at Akron Stadium in Guadalajara, Jalisco, this Saturday, has more than just that record to his name.
The 32-year-old fighter also holds the titles for the highest annual earnings for a boxer (current year) and first undisputed super-middleweight boxing champion.
Alvarez started his professional boxing career at the age of 15 and quickly gained a reputation as a skilled and impressive fighter. He won his first world title in 2011 at the age of 20 and went on to win titles in four different weight classes, including the WBC, WBA, and IBF middleweight titles, as well as the WBO light heavyweight title.
